Lymphoedema Research Trip to Barcelona
In March Mr Griffith’s visited the renowned surgeon Professor Jaume Masia, MD, PhD in Barcelona to see how he performs some complex MRI scans to help assess lymphoedema in patients with swollen limbs.
The visit has been organised as a personal favour by Professor Masia for Mr Griffiths and his colleague Dr Rehman from Heartwood Hospital, Brentwood.
The trip will include a technical visit to the radiology department where Drs Clavero and Alomar carry out the special detailed CT angiograms that helps in the planning of complex reconstructions.
Professor Jaume Masia is the Director of the International Master Degree on Reconstructive Microsurgery at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the President of Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery Foundation for Education. He is the author of several papers and books; his main areas of interest being perforator flaps, lymphedema surgery and medical education.
